Medusa Interface for Hydra mailer boxes stacked, with a glowing green snake hair logo on black
Overview

It comes from Power Hungry Performance and lets drivers change tune positions on their Hydra Chip from a phone or CTS3 device. We also created the 3D renders used to present the box.

The brand already has its mark: a Medusa head rendered as tangled snakes in acid green.

Brief

Power Hungry Performance asked us to design the retail mailer for the Medusa Interface, a Bluetooth accessory that lets drivers change tune positions from a phone or a tuning device. The work covered the box structure, the front and back artwork, the explainer panel and the print specification.

Challenge

Most buyers have never seen this accessory, so the box itself had to explain it. The design also had to let an acid green Medusa mark glow against black, while keeping feature lists, contents and support details easy to read.

Identity

A mark built to glow on black.

The Medusa head sits above a two line lockup, MEDUSA in a tall serif and INTERFACE FOR HYDRA in a condensed sans, both in the same acid green. A hexagon pattern, echoing a circuit board, runs across the box as a quiet technical texture behind the mark.

On the box

What it does, in plain terms.

Because this is an accessory for an existing product, the box carries a short explainer, What is Medusa?, describing it as a bridge between the Hydra Chip and a driver’s phone or CTS3 device. The back panel lists key features and package contents in the same green on black system, along with warranty and support details. On a retail shelf, a buyer who has never seen the accessory can understand what it does before opening the box.

Production

Built as a mailer box.

The box is specified as a corrugated mailer with 4 color process printing, a matte lamination and spot UV on the Medusa mark, so the logo lifts against the matte black field.

Design Outcome

A black box with a glowing green mark and a plain language explainer makes a technical accessory easy to grasp at retail. The back panel keeps features, contents and support in the same green on black system, so the box feels technical but not confusing.
